Richard is also main architect of the new damage system, but many (OPRF members) have helped with ideas, feedback, testing and implementation.
The launch of this system:
It means launch messages such as "Fox 3 at Bandit4" will no longer be sent over MP.
Damage messages such as "AIM-9 hit BLUFR12 with 2.5 meters" will also no longer be sent over MP.
Craters will be visible to other MP pilots if both you and they have MP damage enabled.
Missile launch/approach warnings will still be present, but will be slightly more realistic. An heat seeker fired at 5nm against you will make no warning until you are hit. If the hostile locks you up with his radar before firing that will give you a hint though.
Seeing other MP pilots missiles and their smoke trail.
Seeing other MP pilots ejection parachute.
Seeing other MP pilots flares.
On public MP servers there will be no more missile message spam.
Damage must be enabled on both aircraft to be able to damage each other.
A debriefing dialog that will show you events that happened.
The system will NOT be compatible with the old system.
Further down the line more features expected to be added:
Change impact message in the targeted aircraft from "missile name impact at distance meters from shooter aircraft callsign" to "missile name from shooter aircraft callsign impacted distance meters away"
