special requests for USAF KC-135 liveries

Are we talking about the KC-137 or KC-135? If the KC-137, are we referring to the semi-fictional one we have?

The KC-137R is the KC-135R of FlightGear. They are the same aircraft. Name differences are because of the original model I was inspired by which was named like that, otherwise what you get in the KC-137R is getting every day more similar to what you have in real life. It's not because of the name that you have to think it like a semi-fictional plane. Apart from the HUD and a very few other things it's nearly the same plane. Also the FG 707 isn't 100% accurate to the real life 707.

:D

Working my ass off for this. Still disconnect when gears touch down, but that's more work to do.

In other news, we have fixed the lighting for the Gmeter, and the APstatus.
Also, I fixed the problem with the G/S being completely retard and hopefully the left right problem.

And the clock is very lovely now to the nice job of JMaverick16.

What are the panel layouts and instruments based on? Also, how is the E-8 going?

Sorry if I am missing some idea here.

The screenshots in the preceding post look very nice. Will the empty panel space remain empty or be filled with other instruments?

Ehm, real life pictures maybe?
E-8R is in the 3D works, as soon as they are finished, there'll be more works on it.

Well the KCs have got some spaces in real life so what' you see there is realistic, but there are still some things missing like the AoA instrument but that's because we have to work it properly.

#BecauseThrustMatters: engine comparison of the different models on the KC-137Rs (including former ones):

From left to right: Pratt & Whitney JT4, IAE V2500, CFM 56 and CFM LEAP.

One thing I cannot understand is why the engines FDM of the 707 are Rolls Royce Conways and the 3D is PW JT4...

Latest RC-137R version recently updated by Martien Van Der P.:

All variants will soon feature latest IT-AUTOFLIGHT build and new engine sounds for both CFM and IAE.

Recently many updates have been done, from sounds to textures, 3D and many other code implementation.

Maybe it is because the 707 has two modeled variants, onw with a conway and the other with a JT4..

is IT-autoflight capable of effectively simulating the 707 autopilot system? If there are notable compromises, what are they?

Sorry if I sound demanding. I simply want to know how accurate things will be.

Thanks.

I already knew that, but they share the same FDM for two different engine models, only thrust is changing, so probably they are both nearly identical apart from thrust values.

IT-AUTOFLIGHT can do everything the default 707 AP can, but better, and more.
It is an upgrade which is more sophisticated. I made an error in the KCs which causes it to not work ATM.I will fix it today. (Sorry for the delay, been busy in school)

I am also building a refuel node just for the KC, which flies it wings level, and VS0, to make refueling easier.

That'd be very helpful.
Plus I think something related with TACAN navigation would be awesome. ;)

KC-137R family is getting more digital!

In the past few days many improvements have been made to all the 6 variants of the pack, making the current planes versions the most advanced ever seen. Thanks to all the people involved in helping in the project now we have:

- custom EFB fully working in the overhead.
- digital numbers added to the engineer fuel instruments, like the latest RL planes have.
- general sound improvements including an altitude alert system, improved GPWS and more.
- fully working ITAF autopilot in all versions.
- Full RC-137R Rivet Joint 3D model, matching the real life RC-135V/W.
- large livery pack for the E-8R JSTARS including most of the current RL planes in service.

And a lot more!

And keep in mind it's still not finished and in active development!

All aircrafts are now getting an upgrade, which is coming from the real aircrafts!

--//--BLOCK 45 --//--

XX=Engine not running

NOTE: In CFM versions, the EPR stays XX'ed out. This is normal behavior, as CFM/GE engines do not have an EPR parameter. When the Block 45 is complete, I will make a CFM versions with N1 as the primary.

So far working: ENGINE: EPR, N1, EGT, N2, FLAPS: Green bars and labels

Next to come, nav display, FF numbers, Oil Pressure, EPR limits (N1 limit will come with CFM versions)

Note: Missing from the screenshot: EPR, N1, EGT, N2 labels, will add via OSGtext in a moment. I removed them from the texture, as they were causing some issues.

I have also installed a new autothrottle system, which uses engine EPR (IAE) or N1 (CFM) to set thrust. The Speed-by-throttle needs a little more work, it works, but it needs a little more precision.

In addition!
I have added a system I call Wing Leveller and Pitch Stabilization Augmentation System (WL/PSAS) This system was designed to make the tanker more stable in flight for refueling, as the heading drifts/pressure changes can cause the AP to move the plane around, which is not optimal for refueling. There are two parts, the Wing Leveller is self-explanatory, but PSAS is similar to a CWS system. The elevator input (controls/flight/elevator) will now adjust target pitch, instead of the elevator. The elevators are adjusted by PI-Simple controller for elevator, and also autotrim. This way, setting a pitch of 4deg UP, will be kept, even if thrust changes, or the aircraft banks. I am also adding a VS=0 option to it, but that is not ready yet. This can be controlled by the WL/PSAS menu inthe aircraft menu, cockpit switches, and and a key to open dialog will be added.

Cheers
Josh

Boeing EC-137R Sentry AWACS flying over Andersen AFB, Guam a few days back.

Progress on the project is slowly restarting, in the last few days new ITAF autopilot versions have been installed and both tankers got an improvement to their 3D, more to come in short time (hopefully).
