How fictional is this whole thing? What parts are real and what parts fictional?

I suggest that some of the original 707 instruments be used to fill the blank space in the cockpit to make it look less empty. They can be laced away from their original locations or otherwise rearranged to fill space, as the cockpit already has essentially no fidelity anyway.

The aircraft is based of the very latest updates seen in those aircrafts, with some adaptations. We try to make it as realistic as possible, even if we added something which is more advanced than what you could find in the real cockpits. I've spent days taking a look at pics, videos and anything related to those aircrafts and me and it0uchpods try to do the best we can with the knowledge we have. I tell you that it's really difficult and we have argued many times about how to make things work in it, but we always tried to make everything as better as we could.

And anyways, there are many "fictional" planes in FG if this is the term you like to use to describe the set of aircrafts, and I think ours isn't part of that category.

There's still a lot to do at the cockpit, those pics I've sent now are very, very old and yet what's in it now isn't perfect yet.

Me and it0uchpods spent more than 5 months on this project (I started it last year so it's a lot more for me) and if everything goes well, it will be ended by the end of the year.

And by the way, it's FlightGear, it's open source, we try to make things similar to real life with what we have in here. We are not expert developers but we weren't born yesterday.

Please appreciate what we try to do by bringing also some never-seen-before aircrafts to FG.

Sorry if any offense or slight was perceived. I do not intend to question anyone's dedication, sincerity, or competence, and admit that I have practically no skills in FG aircraft development and am therefore unqualified to question your professional judgement. Nor do I think that fictional stuff is "bad" in any way.

Is there some blatantly obvious fact I am missing? If so, please state it directly.

Not really, apart form the fact that I'm trying to replicate those aircrafts in FG with some little adjustments and improvements. ;)

@ALL: Al, the family of aircrafts got its radar updated but we had to remove/change the nasal files tcas and radar2 'cause they were breaking it.
SO now we need someone of you to fix that in order to re-add the standard OPRF radar system.
It's really important. Thanks in advance.

All variants have now got a working radar system with the "OPRF Standard"!
Could someone add the 6 versions (KC-137R, KC-137R-RT, EC-137R, RC-137R, E-8R, C-137R) to the hours counting system?

Will remove the radar2.nas file from the E-8R JSTARS since it has a ground-looking radar which is meant to track ground targets so if we are going to make an event which focuses on ship, tank, whatever bombing Teams will have in the E-8R a game-changer which will help to find more easily the location of the enemy. What I'd like to have is a sort of targeting system similar to the one the B-1B has. Any thoughts about that?

EDIT: Can't remove the file 'cause otherwise no working radar, just realized. But, I need someone of you to test the radar scripts and see if they really work properly since it's important they do s (I think there might be a proplem in the aircraft list screen but not 100% sure, it's about the way it gets updated). Plus in this case I need a way to make all targets visible on radar for the JSTARS as said before.
Any help? I'm crap at nasal.
Thanks in advance.

The B-1B system is incredibly complicated. I highly recommend you avoid it and do a new one from scratch.

Well, first of all I'd need someone who knows what he's doing (so not me) to try and make it.

What is the state and realism of the E-8? I caution against efforts to produce models of real aircraft that differ excessively from the aircraft they represent.

It's in a good state, detailed 3D model is about to be finished and released soon.
About the systems, well, it's difficult, I mean, replicating it perfectly in FG it's impossible 'cause you can have some kind of things it features. Also, me and Josh aren't expert at making sophisticated radar technologies and similar so I asked for help on the forum but currently no one answered also because there it seems like if your aircraft is in FGMEMBERS, then is part of FGMEMBERS and so not considered really. We can almost speak of senselessness about how things are getting recently.

Anyway, the real E-8C is getting old and it will be replaced soon by something like the USN E-6 or even more advanced ones.
If you want and can help us with it it'd be nice. We'd appreciate it.
And, it'd won't differ too much from the real one, more or less ;) .

The E-8C only has a ground-looking radar with very limited air-to-air capability, so it shouldn't be too much of a game changer as we are a primarily air-to-air focused group.

For now, but what if someday in the future there will be more stuff going around with ships, tanks, SAM and similar? Air strikes could be helped by a flying JSTARS.

Agreed. It would be nice to have aircraft in various roles supporting each other to accomplish objectives.

Loving the Plane J mav !! Best military aircraft that i am capable of flying, keep up the good work :)

On another note, i find that when i switch the radar on for the EC-137, the simulator stop/pauses/goes time after time. although ill have 60fps its like running on 1-3fps
Looking for gas?? Look up ^ ill be up there somewhere

Uh, that's strange, never happened to me. I mean yes, sometimes when I switch on the radar systems I get a little lag but that's all, no fps drops.
Will check out, thanks for reporting.

I'm a poor livery maker so I use Gimp ;) .
Anyway, if you have some special requests for USAF KC-135 liveries which aren't too complex ;)
