This thread will eventually serve as the home of the ongoing Air Defense Mission that will allow OpRF members to conduct missions whenever they want! You need to post before you start (you can even post well-ahead of time so that people can plan to be OPFOR if you really want to be challenged!). Just make sure you are on when you say you will be, for the entirety.
You will get credit for ALL your hours, even if you are on the tarmac. However, if OPFOR comes on and you don't respond (i.e. are AFK), they will report it here and you will not get credit for your time!
You can form teams, etc. This is a great way for us to have something to do whenever we have time. We will have a steady location (Nellis Gunnery Range), plus we will do special events like major sporting events, multinational meetings, special no-fly zones, etc. ROE will be established for each as they occur.
After you complete your patrol, also post a link to the MPServer15 flight track for your time.
Our big events will be held on a private server, and we are going to be emphasising realism, including using navaids and such for navigation rather than an all-seeing map, in many events. This considered, we want to be able to create a fun way for OpRF members to learn how to know where they are using navaids, landmarks, etc. This game will help with that.
You may defend airspace defined in this thread ANYTIME you want. Simply post a reply in the thread when you begin, and when you end. Each full hour counts...
You may escort any aircraft in your sector, but under NO circumstances may you engage an aircraft unless they are using the callsign "OPFOR". Remember that you are patrolling a big chunk of space, and many MP players are not involved in or interested in our events. Be respectful. Don't even THREATEN to engage a non-OPFOR target.
You get credit for your time even if you don't successfully defend your airspace. The only way to not get credit is to violate the ROE.
Map IS allowed (pilot list is still not allowed). However, we encourage you to try not to use the map and instead use navaids and landmarks. Use the map to verify what you think you know from these tools!
You must use a callsign containing the word "OPFOR". You do not get credit for your time as OPFOR. Most OPFOR will be conducted by the Admins... but all members are welcome to OPFOR!
You must establish a mumble channel under the title "OPFOR" in the English channel.
You must use your regular callsign on mumble so that we can know who is playing OPFOR. This is so we can answer any questions later if there is a disagreement as to whether the ROE was violated. You don't have to speak in your channel, but you have to be capable of being spoken to.
You must act in a realistic manner. If you are going to act as a lost airliner, fly an airliner. If you are going to act as a hostile enemy force, fly a DM aircraft. Have a plan going in, and expect that you may be asked what your intent was. The goal isn't to make it hard on the person defending the airspace... the goal is to make it fun for them. :)
1) All pilots have a right to defend themselves if fired upon. 2) All NON-OPFOR users have a right to enjoy the sim without being harassed. 3) Any OPFOR aircraft in Restricted airspace must be contacted, visually identified, and intercepted/escorted. “OPFOR, (Your Callsign). You have or are about to enter restricted airspace and are being intercepted by a OpRF (your aircraft). Turn immediately to (shortest heading away from RA) and state intentions.” 4) Any OPFOR aircraft in Military Operations Airspace (MOA) must be contacted, asked for intended destination, and monitored. OPFOR aircraft that do not respond and follow directions must be visually identified and intercepted. OPFOR aircraft MAY cross MOA airspace so long as they have a lawful destination and stay above 30,000 ft. 5) Force is NOT authorized against OPFOR in MOA unless the aircraft is confirmed hostile or is a military aircraft or bogie in R4808N east of 116W. 6) Force is authorized against OPFOR military or recon aircraft in RA only if all other options have been exhausted. Force is NOT authorized against commercial or GA aircraft under any circumstances. However, these aircraft should be followed, monitored, and will be addressed by authorities upon landing.
Desert MOA (Nellis Range):
The Desert MOA is currently only open to commercial traffic above 30,000 ft. Commercial traffic (OPFOR only) should contact Control to request permission to enter MOA, and should state intentions.
Commercial traffic from the north… West of 115W, heading between 90 and 120 only. East of 115W, heading between 180 and 192 only
Commercial traffic from the south… Heading of 240 (when above 37N) to 12 only.
R4806 (all), R4807 (all), 4808N (west of 116W), 4809: Must intercept all OPFOR traffic and escort. Force not authorized unless hostile.
4808N (east of 116W): Defend from all OPFOR. Use of force authorized against non-commercial and non-GA aircraft. Treat all bogies (unidentified) as bandits within this airspace.
KSUU_TW, awesome mate! Welcome to the group!
Hi folks, please ask FB and swamp to read their private messages here. Thanks!
Hey guys, just wanted to say that I'm happy to be part of the group! I should be at KSUU quite frequently now as tower on the regular FG servers. You might see me in other towers too such as KSFO, KXTA, or KJFK.
