Is it intended that this server eventually completely replaces the official servers as the server on which we operate?
That's not my intention.
I see this server as being useful for planned OPS where we need to control visibility of map and the MP range (as the 100nm range on the standard servers is a bit limiting). Also with the awacs changes it should hopefully improve the realism. We will also have control over the logging and tracking.
At the moment I'm currently still developing some server changes so the server is up. It's likely to be offline after the weekend until the next planned operation.
No, the intent of the private server is not to replace the regular multiplayer servers. In fact, the intent is to only use the private servers for big, organized events. We still need to have our smaller events (the ones that don't really count) on the main servers so that we can be visible. In fact, once Richard and company are comfortable with the server (and no longer need testing), we may even close it except for times that we have a competition, just to be sure we keep visibility (our developers can tell us if/when this should be the case).
We are a community, and as such, need to have new folks exposed so that we can have new blood and new ideas. We won't be leaving the main servers unless they make us. :)
Richard nice work and you've customed our own mpserver map!A-WE-SOME! Suggess you're tired from all these things you do for us.Don't you think it's also time for us to make something so incredible like Richard?
